Aínsa, a town with 2,175 inhabitants, is strategically located at the confluence of the Cinca and Ara rivers, perched on a hill at 589 meters above sea level, right in the heart of the Sobrarbe region, offering panoramic views of the surrounding landscape.
Its historic center has been declared a Historic-Artistic Site since 1965. Next to the arcaded Main Square stands the Collegiate Church of Santa María, built between the 11th and 12th centuries, known for its beauty and simplicity. Its tower is particularly striking, with dimensions unique to Aragonese Romanesque architecture, making it a must-visit viewpoint. Also noteworthy is the Castle, built over several centuries. While little remains of the original Romanesque structure, the Tenente Tower, with its pentagonal floor plan, stands out and is now home to an EcoMuseum.
Aínsa is the perfect starting point for exploring some of the most stunning tourist routes in the Central Pyrenees, including the Ordesa and Monte Perdido National Park, the Pineta Valley, the Añisclo Canyon, the Sierra y Cañones de Guara Natural Park, and more. It's also ideal for all kinds of nature and adventure activities, such as rafting, canyoning, climbing, caving, mountaineering, hiking, and more.
