Graus is a small, peaceful town, very well located for visiting the various valleys of the Ribagorza and Sobrarbe regions.
Pets allowed, properly documented.
Graus is a town of about 3,000 inhabitants, the administrative capital of the Ribagorza region, located at the confluence of the Ésera and Isábena rivers.
Its historic center was declared a Conjunto Histórico in 1975. Notable landmarks include the Plaza Mayor, home to the Town Hall and the Heredia and del Barón houses, whose façades are decorated with allegorical paintings.
Graus is also home to the Basilica of the Virgen de la Peña and the parish Church of San Miguel, both of Romanesque origin.
Ribagorza is set in a privileged location at the foot of the high Pyrenean peaks. The Ésera, Isábena, and Noguera-Ribagorzana rivers shape the region into three valleys that bear their names. Must-visit sites include the Ésera and Benasque Valleys, the Isábena Valley, the Noguera Valley, and the Posets-Maladeta Natural Park.
Climb a summit, explore a valley, rest by a mountain lake (ibón), listen to the birds alongside the murmur of a river… The landscapes of this region are a delightful surprise for first-time visitors.
This region also offers a rich and lesser-known monumental heritage: the Obarra Monastery, Roda de Isábena Cathedral, Santa María de Alaón Monastery… just a small sample of the Romanesque art you can enjoy.
Gastronomy is another highlight of Graus, renowned for both tradition and quality. Among its famous sausages, the longaniza de Graus stands out. In July, the Día de la Longaniza is celebrated with the world’s largest longaniza barbecue, a craft market, and other parallel events to enjoy.
